Riyaaz Amlani, who wants to name his bike 'Dhanno', has his eyes set on a Batcycle

Riyaaz Amlani, CEO, Impresario Entertainment & Hospitality, loves riding on mountainous curves, but feels cars have two wheels too many:

My first bike
“It was a TVS50 moped, which I had back in 1991. You had to use pedals to get it running. I used it for quite some time, but nobody would take it from me, and I think it just rusted away somewhere. I loved that bike because it was the only one you could ride aged 16; everything else needed you to be 18.”

Best rides
“I love riding in the mountains. Any biker would dream of taking on the curvy long roads and checking out the views on offer. Ladakh is the holy grail of biking, and that was quite memorable. I also went biking in Bhutan, which was one of the most beautiful rides of my life.”


Safety first
“One must be extremely careful and responsible when riding any bike. My wife keeps reminding me to ride safely because I have two little children. One must always ensure the bike is well maintained; check the tyres, brakes, oils and coolants before starting any long ride. Invest in a good helmet, wear body armour and thick clothing, and always ride in groups. Don’t attempt longdistance trips by yourself.”

Top tip
“The best maintenance tip is to ride it as often as you can. Don’t ignore it for longer than a week.”

My dream bike
“I already have my dream bike — the BMW GS1200. It’s a tourer, an off roader, the best bike ever made. However, if we lived in a fantasy world, I would love to own the Batcycle.”


Talking wheels
“My biker friends and I talk bikes and go on rides whenever we can. I will ride with anybody; I just need to be on the road.”

If I had to name my bike…
“I would name it Dhanno. It’s something I depend on — much like the faithful horse in Sholay.”

Favourite bike scene from a movie
“The bike scene from The Terminator on the Los Angeles flyover.”

Favourite cars
“I don’t drive cars at all. I feel cars have two wheels too many.”

For a big awards night, I would arrive in…
“My BMW GS 1200.”.

Currently I ride…
“I have a Bullet 500 classic Desert storm edition, a BMW GS 1200 and a Kawasaki Vulcan 2000.”
