'Ripped jeans? No, the problem is ripped mentality': Women take over Twitter after Uttarakhand CM says they set 'bad example'
Rawat said that women in distressed jeans are sending wrong message.

During an event, Rawat said that women who wear ripped jeans are setting a 'bad example' for society. The newly appointed CM then went ahead and recalled an incident where he had met a woman in distressed jeans who runs an NGO. Based on her ripped denim, Uttarakhand CM expressed major concern about the kind of message she was sending out to the world.
"If this kind of woman goes out in the society to meet people and solve their problems, what kind of message are we giving out to society, to our kids?" the CM had said.
The minister termed it "culture of scissors". "Showing bare knees, wearing ripped denim and looking like rich kids - these are the values being given now. Where is this coming from, if not at home?" he further said.
The comment did not go down well with netizens, who quickly took to Twitter to slam the chief minister. A storm under #RippedJeansTwitter trend took over the micro blogging site with several people sharing their photos in distressed jeans as a protest against Rawat's recent controversial remarks.
Hours later, big names such as former actress Gul Panag, Rajya Sabha MP and Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi, actress and former Femina Miss India Simran Kaur Mundi and many more joined the movement and condemned Rawat's comments.
