Rio Olympics: Exit Salman? IOA writes to Sachin Tendulkar for Goodwill Ambassador post
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has written a letter to former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar to become the Goodwill Ambassador for India for Rio Olympics 2016.

Earlier this morning, news agency ANI tweeted that the cricketer's name had cropped up as a replacement to Salman Khan.

This development comes after a group of athletes, led by athlete and Olympian Milkha Singh, had opposed the appointment of actor Salman Khan as Goodwill Ambassador for Rio.

Olympic medal-winning wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, along with others, had also voiced his displeasure at the appointment of somebody who wasn't a sportsperson.

Interestingly, the Cricket Association of Bengal chief and former India skipper, Sourav Ganguly, had on Thursday put his weight behind Salman, saying that the actor had the power to familiarise the masses with the Olympic spectacle.
