Rishi Kulkarni shares all the gadgets he uses to work well amidst the pandemic while at home.
Technology is now a necessary evil. What was once a tool for productivity has now become our only window to the world. Rishi Kulkarni, CEO and Co-Founder Revv is spending tons of time on Zoom, Whatsapp, and workplace chat.
"Home is now redesigned to accommodate workplace habits. We have got redundant internet connections and Wi-Fi repeaters all over the home. Initially, I felt this was a temporary phenomenon, but this is going to become a permanent change for all of us," he tells ET Panache.
Gadget gauge "I use my iPad for workplace chat and for reviewing all documents. We run our workplace on documents: vendor contracts, business proposals, sales battle cards, leave requests; in fact most of these are converted into instant documents that I access on my phone. I'm a lot more on Twitter and LinkedIn. But for all its faults, Twitter has done a good job of keeping us informed on the scale of impact of Covid. It has helped me lead my startup with better information," he says.
Phone phase "I've been on iPhone 6 for over three years. I like the screen size as I can reach any part of the screen with my thumb on one hand. Office hours I'm always near the phone, other times I check the phone once in a while. I've had some success recently staying away from WhatsApp and other noisy apps," he says.
Go to gadget "I would say Smartwatch has caught my fancy. It's a very intimate device. It knows your body more than any gadget out there. There are many options in the market however I'm interested in the ones which are doing a good job helping manage sleep and stress," he says.
App tap "It would be a mix of Medium, Apple Podcasts, and Apple Music. Podcast and Music is used for infotainment or entertainment whereas Medium is what I use to share tons of content for running a business and startup," he says.

Smart rap "iWatch is making all of us health-conscious. Not just in terms of physical fitness but mental fitness too. It guides us in our sleep patterns. Apps like Calm work really great with iWatch. I just feel a smartwatch has the potential to be a very personal device and the iWatch does a great job of it," he says.
Technical change "I have been advocating the use of document management solutions and automatic approval management solutions which essentially enables one to be compliant with policies, approval, and templates that provide consistency and uniformity. When you use a template for creating documents, it helps one to adhere to a standard document style and helps creates a brand familiarity among stakeholders and customers. It also helps foster collaboration between different departments in the organization by defining who from which department can approve/reject the documents," he shares.
Advance planning "It is critical, that a day is planned, managed, and utilized in the best possible way. Setting clear goals for yourself could be a good start and then prioritising your tasks as per the requirements. An untimely response or delay in sharing critical customer documents can result in businesses losing deals, I leverage the power of Revv to create documents and establish approval workflows to build scalable processes and eliminate the inconvenience and human errors/gaps. Also, having a sorted time-table and calendar can make overall working experience more convenient and easy to manage," he ends.

“I have fine-tuned my baking skills. Although my wife Benaisha and I aren’t vegan, the rest of the house is. So, during the lockdown, vegan baking took centrestage. Benaisha makes the best chocolate mousse cake. It’s made with dates, almond flour and coconut milk — it’s a huge hit. I find baking therapeutic. It’s a precise activity where the outcome is as perfect as the work that goes into it. If you follow the instructions, the end result is good. I love that.”
