‘Revolver Rani’ actress Malika Rajput found dead in her room; police suspect suicide

Malika Rajput, a popular singer from Uttar Pradesh, was found dead in her room. The songstress was discovered hanging in her house in the Sitakund area of Kotwali Nagar. Her body has been sent for post-mortem and the local police have started investigating the matter.

The singer’s family is in complete shock. According to an India Times report, the local police reached the spot, notified the Panchayat, and sent the body to the morgue for post-mortem.

Rajput’s mother Sumitra Singh told the police that they had no idea she had committed suicide. She had knocked on the door several times and when Rajput had not opened it, she and her husband broke open the door and found her dead.


“Earlier the door was closed. And the light was on. We took three rounds but could not open the door. At last, I looked through the window and saw that she was standing there. When I knocked on the door, I saw that our daughter was hanging. I called my husband and others but she was no more,''

Shriram Pandey, the police officer in charge at the Kotwali police station said that although the current verdict is a suicide, the police are investigating the matter.

Who Was Malika Rajput?

Vijay Lakshmi, also known as Malika Rajput, was a singer-actress. She had a supporting role in the 2014 crime-comedy ‘Revolver Rani’ which also starred Kangana Ranaut. She also appeared in a music video for a song ‘Yaara Tujhe’ by Shaan.

In 2016, she joined the Bharatiya Janata Party but left two years later.

She was also a trained Kathak dancer. She was a prolific poet too, and performed ghazals at several events.
