A New York City renter, Emily Bonani, has been brushing her teeth in the shower for several months due to the unusual and cramped layout of her apartment’s tiny bathroom. Taking to Instagram, she uploaded a video showcasing her tiny bathroom in her flat which instantly grabbed attention of millions. Soon, many flocked to the comment section out of curiosity leading to one ask if this was a "prison toilet".

As per the New York Post, the house is located in the Lower East Side and the bathroom measures just 2.5 by 3 feet, and Emily believes it might be the smallest in the city. A key feature contributing to this belief is a compact sink attached directly to the toilet tank, which only functions when the toilet is flushed. What will further surprise you is that Emily pays a rent of $ 2,000 (approx Rs 1.74 lakh).

Emily, 31, shared her experience in a humorous video that quickly went viral, garnering over 1.8 million views in just a week. She regularly shares content with her 200,000 TikTok followers, including a web series where she interviews people in unique New York City bathrooms. Although the setup was unconventional, she initially found it amusing and even appreciated its eco-friendly design.


As per reports, this apartment was her first living arrangement without roommates, and despite the bathroom’s limitations, the overall deal was too attractive to pass up. The previous tenant installed the tiny sink which is available online for about $95. Emily also shared the video on Instagram, where it quickly gained traction, racking up 1.7 million views. In the caption, she highlighted that the apartment is rent-stabilized, adding a humorous touch.
