Her lighthearted tone shocked many, especially after it was clarified that the question was in reference to the devastating crash. Upon hearing that it concerned the Ahmedabad incident, Reem chose not to comment and walked away, leaving many confused and disappointed.

Reem Issues Clarification
As the criticism mounted, Reem took to social media to address the situation and provide her side of the story. In a lengthy Instagram post, she revealed that the tragedy was not just another news event for her—it hit close to home, as her sister works as a pilot with Air India.According to her post, Reem was well aware of the crash the moment it happened. She explained that her sister had broken down emotionally after hearing the news, grieving the loss of colleagues she had flown with. Reem expressed her frustration that the question asked by the paparazzi was vague and didn’t specifically mention the crash, which is why she hadn’t reacted in the moment. She clarified that she didn’t feel it was appropriate to speak about something so sensitive unless addressed directly.
She further stated that she doesn’t usually engage with the media in such situations because she finds it uncomfortable to express grief on camera. Reem emphasized that mourning is a deeply personal process for her and that being stoic in public doesn’t mean she is indifferent. She asked people not to judge her based on a fleeting clip and reminded everyone that behind the headlines are real people with real connections to the tragedy.
The heartbreaking event in question occurred on June 12, 2025. An Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner, departing from Ahmedabad at 1:38 PM for London, crashed just 38 seconds after takeoff. It fell onto BJ Medical College in the Meghani locality. According to a DGCA report, the aircraft was carrying 242 individuals, including 230 passengers, 10 crew members, and 2 pilots.
