Redmi Smart Band review: A good balance between price, design and features
It walks the talk and does not count an accidental hand movement as a step.

HIGHLIGHT: Rugged design
When it comes to budget fitness trackers, Xiaomi is perhaps the first name that pops up in most people’s minds. The Mi Band has been quite popular and now Xiaomi wants to replicate its success with its first Redmi branded fitness band. The recently launched Redmi
Smart Band, at Rs 1,599, packs a lot of promising features such as the biggest display in its segment, days of battery life, heart rate sensor and more.
Xiaomi’s idea of making the Redmi Smart Band a bit more rectangular with a much-pronounced design seems to be working here. It gives a relatively expensive feel to it and also differentiates it with Mi series fitness bands. It comes with a removable silicone strap that is rugged yet comfortable.
Removing the strap reveals the USB Type-A port for charging. It takes around 2 hours to charge up the band. In our test, it easily managed to last for around 10 days with almost every feature turned on and medium display brightness.
Redmi Smart Band features a one-button navigation interface with a dedicated capacitive touch button below the display. The button can be used to navigate back from any screen to the home screen. Users can swipe up or down to navigate through apps and menu options. Swiping left or right on the home screen brings the music controls option.
The Redmi Smart Band is compatible with Android and iOS via Xiaomi Wear (Android) and Xiaomi Wear Lite (iOS) apps. It uses Blue-tooth 5.0 for connectivity. The fitness tracker comes with a lot of workout modes, including five professional modes.
The band does a good job counting steps. In our testing, it was accurate and managed to ignore accidental hand movements.
