Realme has smartly kept its focus on the mid-range as well as the entry-level smartphone segment in India. They launched the Realme 3 Pro in the mid-range and the Realme C2 in the entry-level segment earlier and now they are repeating the same strategy with the Realme X and Realme 3i.
The Realme 3i can be looked like a slightly improved version of the Realme C2. It shares the same design language as the Realme C2 and even comes in the same colour options. It's only the new Diamond Red variant that has a gradient colour scheme. Thankfully, Realme still offers a textured finish back which provides grip and you don't have to worry about smudges and scratches if used without a back cover. The visible difference on the Realme 3i is the vertically stacked camera module and the fingerprint scanner in the centre.

On the front, it has a 6.2-inch IPS display with a waterdrop style notch. While the screen is bright with wide viewing angles, we do feel that the HD+ resolution for the Rs 10k variant feels expensive as there are options with full HD display easily available. You get the option to adjust colour temperature, a night shield mode and the ability to control Full-screen display for individual apps. The good thing is that the phone comes with a pre-applied screen guard for protection.
Our review is based on the 4GB RAM, 64GB storage variant. The phone is powered by an octa-core Helio P60 processor making it one of the cheapest phones to offer this processor today. The P60 is a capable processor which lets you play PUBG at medium settings but there will be a few visible frame drops in an area with heavy details. For other usage scenarios, the phone worked smoothly without any hiccups. Battery life is also great - we managed to get one full day of backup with around 20% battery to spare.
For most budget phones, the cameras have improved but they are still not on the same level as what we see on the Rs10k+ smartphones nowadays. The Realme 3i features a dual rear camera - 13MP f1.8 + 2MP f2.4 depth sensor. As expected, the rear camera manages to take good quality photos in daylight. However, when used indoors we could see noise coming in the photos and in low light, there is noise as well as soft details. The good thing is that low light photos are still good enough to view on the phone. The portrait mode is above average - you get photos with a good amount of blur, but the edge detection isn't the best. Its 13MP front camera fares similar in performance but manages to capture slightly better details indoors.
As a budget phone, the Realme 3i's pricing puts it slightly cheaper than the competition from Xiaomi. There is no direct competition for the 3GB RAM variant, but when it comes to the 4GB RAM variant at Rs 9,999, the Redmi Note 7S at Rs 10,999 is a bit more tempting with its full HD display, 48MP camera, quick charge support and Snapdragon 660 processor.
