Ratan Tata 'intends' to build a new animal hospital, post-retirement?
Ever since his retirement in 2012, creature lovers have had their ear to the ground, tuned in to news of Ratan Tata’s supposed plans to build a new animal hospital in Mumbai. Interest levels had already spiked when a team from College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University, USA, visited the city in 2010.

“The team was to meet institutions within and affiliated to the Tata Group on animal health and biomedical sciences along with community outreach initiatives,” says a source, seeking anonymity.

Woofs of delight however turned into whimpers of disappointment when Tata Trust did not place a bid to lease 2,000 square meters of CIDCO land in Kalamboli, earmarked for a hospital for furry friends.

So is setting up an animal hospital still Tata’s post-retirement pet project? The “intent”, says his office, is still there, but nothing has been finalised.
