Tata shares his birthday with an industry peer, Dhirubhai Ambani.
It was a special milestone for Ratan Tata as he turned octogenarian yesterday, celebrating his 80th birthday. And staying true to his reputation of being an intensely private person, there was no word of any big, glitzy celebrations.

Apparently, every year, Tata typically takes the last week of December off. His preferred way of spending this time is to go to his bungalow in Alibaug for some downtime. Possibly, that’s exactly how he spent yesterday. As for any celebrations in the Tata Group offices to mark the occasion, expect none. It seems the chairman emeritus of Tata Sons has never even cut a cake at any of the offices to mark his birthday. It’s simply not his style to draw any attention to his personal life at work.

Fun fact though: Tata shares his birthday with an industry peer, Dhirubhai Ambani. Great men may or may not think alike. But seems they are born under a similar star.
