Rashmika Mandanna’s Rs 1.31 lakh saree
The ivory-white handloom silk saree combines a minimalist silhouette with detailed traditional embellishment. According to the price confirmed by the label after ETimes contacted it, the saree set costs Rs 1,31,600. Its subtle sheen and lightweight drape give the fabric an understated finish, while the embroidered scalloped border adds definition. Intricate zardozi, zari and stonework decorate the border with delicate floral motifs and vine-like creepers. The body of the saree is kept plain so that the craft work on the edges gets highlighted. This restrained approach also plays up the richly embroidered crimson blouse, providing a contrast between the soft ivory silk and the deeper, more dramatic color.
A crimson blouse inspired by a powerful Shakti touch
The statement of the red blouse defines Rashmika’s look. Its rich colour complements the ivory saree while bringing to mind the auspiciousness, passion and divine energy associated with red and Goddess Durga. The blouse features a high, round neckline at the front, offering a clean frame for the actress’s traditional jewellery. At the back, a geometric, cut-out design is framed by hand embroidery. Gold zardozi, tilla and pearl embroidery extend across the shoulders, armholes and upper back. The full-length sleeves adds drama to the outfit.Gold jewelry and red gajra complement Rashmika's traditional look
Rashmika’s accessories are inspired from Indian traditional styling. The look is grounded with a gold choker featuring intricate filigree or kundan and polki inspired detailing, delicate pearl drops add movement along the lower edge. The embroidered blouse is teamed with matching gold earrings and a necklace. Gold bangles and bracelets contribute to the festive mood and a traditional hand harness or a delicate wrist band with tiny pearls or stones offers another ornamental detail to the ensemble. Her hair is pulled back in a low bun and decorated with a garland of red flowers, or gajra. The flower accessory enhances the traditional feel and matches the red blouse bringing the colors together.
The colour pairing gives the ensemble meaning beyond its craftsmanship. Ivory white is associated with peace, purity and prayer, while red represents passion, auspiciousness and divine energy, with a strong connection to Goddess Durga.
