Ranveer Singh's scoop tee look: Hit or miss?

Early this month, actor Ranveer Singh gave us a glimpse into his quirky sense of style. He made an appearance at Ritesh Sidhwani's birthday bash in an ash grey suit and a scoop neck tee. He wore a Gucci fall /winter 2014 Thames wool crepe stretch Dylan 60's suit. Though the look got a thumbs-up from fashion critics, it is one that can go horribly wrong if attention to detail is ignored.

Fashion designer-cum-stylist Vivek Karunakaran gives tips to bear in mind before trying out this look:

Fababs: A well-toned body is without doubt an important factor for a guy who chooses to wear a scoop neck tee. If you are not as fit as Ranveer, you could opt for a regular T-shirt in a darker shade.

Keep it clean: A scoop neck tee or a ganji, by default, calls for a clean shaven chest. Otherwise it's wise to stick to a regular tee.

Footwear: Though Ranveer went for a closed pair of shoes, you could experiment with sandals for a more casualchic look, depending on the event. Leather mojris also look great with an outfit like this.

Accessories: It's best to avoid any accessories around the neck with a T-shirt like this and let the focus be on the clean shaven, well-toned chest instead. A cool pair of aviators, funky pocket squares or strappy leather bracelets will enhance the look.
