According to PTI, the threat was sent to Ranveer Singh in the form of a WhatsApp voice note. The sender allegedly demanded a large sum of money, said to be running into crores, as per some media reports. The tone of the message was serious enough for the actor to immediately alert the authorities and share all available details with the police.
Police Begin Probe, Security Increased
Following the alert, Mumbai Police moved quickly and tightened security arrangements outside Ranveer Singh’s house as a precautionary step. Additional police personnel have been deployed in the area while investigators work to trace the origin of the threatening voice note. Officials have confirmed that efforts are underway to authenticate the message and identify the person behind it.As per News18, the police are examining technical details related to the WhatsApp account from which the voice note was sent. The motive behind the threat remains unclear, and no individual or gang has officially claimed responsibility so far. However, some early reports have suggested a possible link to the Bishnoi gang, though this has not been confirmed by authorities.
Police officials have maintained that the matter is being taken seriously, especially given the recent firing incident involving another prominent name from the industry. At present, the investigation is ongoing.
The threat to Ranveer Singh comes shortly after shots were fired outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence in the early hours of January 31. Rohit Shetty was reportedly present at home at the time of the incident, though no injuries were reported. Mumbai Police later arrested five accused in connection with the firing.
Four of the accused were taken into custody on February 1, soon after the incident, while the fifth was arrested on February 5. All five were produced before Mumbai’s Esplanade Court, also known as Killa Court, and were remanded to police custody for further investigation.
Ranveer Singh on the Work Front
Even as the security issue unfolds, Ranveer Singh continues to enjoy a strong run professionally. The actor recently starred in the spy action thriller Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, which released on December 5, 2025. The film went on to become a massive box office success, earning over Rs 1,305 crore globally and crossing the Rs 1,000 crore mark in domestic net collections, making it the first Hindi film to do so.In the film, Ranveer portrayed Hamza Ali Mazari, whose real identity is revealed as Jaskirat Singh Rangi, set against a backdrop of international intelligence operations and geopolitical tension. Following the film’s success, a sequel titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge was announced.
The sequel is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19 and will feature returning cast members including Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, and Akshaye Khanna. Reports also suggest Akshaye Khanna may appear in flashback scenes, while the film will release in multiple languages.
Ranveer Singh lives in Mumbai with his wife, actor Deepika Padukone, and their daughter Dua Padukone Singh. The couple got married in November 2018 and welcomed their daughter in September 2024.
