‘Love & War’ Postponed
During the Instagram live session marking the first anniversary of his lifestyle brand ARKS, Ranbir said the film, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, will now release after his other big project, ‘Ramayana: Part One’, which is set for Diwali 2026. He didn’t give a confirmed release date but reassured fans that the team is focused on releasing it in 2026.Earlier, ‘Love & War’ had been slated for Christmas 2025, then March and August 2026, but the scale of the production and intricate visual effects, especially the aerial action sequences, have caused delays. Sources have said major portions of the film are still pending shoot and post-production. As Ranbir put it, the film involves “large-scale aerial action sequences that demand extensive visual effects,” and rushing them would compromise Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s signature detailing.
Starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal, the period drama is reportedly set in the 1960s and follows a love triangle between two Air Force officers, possibly as a modern homage to the 1964 classic Sangam. Ranbir emphasized that it will arrive after ‘Ramayana: Part One’, which avoids clashing with other big releases like Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic.
Ranbir on Fans’ Jokes About Delays
A fan jokingly commented about how Ranbir’s movies take years to release: “Ek superstar tha jo, ‘See you at the movies,’ bolke 3-4 saal gayab ho jaata hai!”Smiling, Ranbir admitted, “Yaar, it's my bad luck only! Whenever I start a movie it is usually… People finish movies in 4-6 months, but my films take a long time. But I hope that when it releases, you forget all that time it has taken. I assure you that I am working really hard since the last 2-3 years. I have been working very hard. So I guess good things take time!”
Updates on Animal Park and Brahmastra 2
Ranbir also shared updates on his other upcoming films. He confirmed that Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal Park will go on floors around mid-2027. Meanwhile, Brahmastra 2 will start filming earlier than fans expected. The sequel is expected to explore new characters, including the storyline of Dev introduced in Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva.Additionally, he hinted at the possibility of returning for a ‘Rockstar’ sequel if director Imtiaz Ali comes up with a good script. Speculations about another collaboration with Deepika Padukone in Ayan Mukerji’s next film based on Raj Kapoor and Nargis’ Chori Chori were also briefly discussed, though nothing is confirmed.
While fans may have to wait a little longer for ‘Love & War’, Ranbir Kapoor has reassured that all his projects are progressing steadily, with ‘Ramayana: Part One’ leading the way.
