Everyone is gearing up for the release of Ramayana Part 1, one of the most anticipated Indian films of the year. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the epic stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Ravi Dubey and Yash in lead roles. The film is scheduled to release in Indian theatres on November 5, 2026, with paid preview shows planned for November 4. Ahead of its theatrical debut, the makers have now confirmed where audiences can watch the film online after its cinema run.

Ramayana OTT release details

Ramayana Part 1 will stream on JioHotstar after its theatrical run. The digital partnership between the streaming platform and producer Namit Malhotra's Prime Focus Studios was confirmed ahead of the film's release.

However, viewers should not expect to watch the film as part of their regular streaming subscription. Ramayana will be available through a pay-per-view model, which means audiences will have to pay separately to access the movie online. This differs from films that become available to all subscribers as part of their existing plans.

The makers have not yet announced the film's exact OTT release date or the price viewers will have to pay to watch it. These details are expected to clarify when the film will move from theatres to the streaming platform.

Nita M. Ambani and Namit Malhotra on the digital release

JioStar chairperson Nita M. Ambani said the partnership would help bring the epic to families across India, including younger audiences who may be encountering the story for the first time.

She described, “Ramayana is one of India’s greatest civilisational treasures – a story that has shaped our conscience, inspired our imagination, and guided the way we live for centuries. As India enters a new era of storytelling, we have an extraordinary opportunity to carry our cultural legacy forward. At JioHotstar, our vision is to use technology to bring the finest stories within reach of every Indian. It is our privilege to present this grand cinematic vision of Ramayana to families across the country, and introduce a new generation to its eternal values of duty, love, courage, and goodness."

Producer Namit Malhotra also spoke about the importance of making the film available beyond cinemas. He said, "I believe Ramayana should be experienced on the biggest screen possible, in IMAX 3D. But our country’s cinema infrastructure cannot reach everyone who holds this epic close. Ramayana belongs to every Indian, and our ambition must reflect that. JioHotstar has time and again shown how technology can bring a nation together through its sports and entertainment offering. That made them a natural partner to take Ramayana into people’s hands and living rooms, after its theatrical run,"

According to Malhotra, JioHotstar was a suitable partner to bring the film into people's homes after its theatrical release. The collaboration is intended to extend the film's reach while allowing audiences to choose how they experience the story.

Despite the digital plans, the makers' emphasis remains on the theatrical experience, with the film designed as a large-scale cinematic adaptation of the epic.
