Ram Kapoor reveals why he was ‘thrilled’ at his father’s death: ‘I was happy…’

A parent’s death can be super traumatic for a child. However, TV star Ram Kapoor admitted that he was “super relieved” by his father’s death. In a chat with Nayandeep Rakshit, the actor explained that seeing his father waste away from cancer was a life-changing experience for him, and he was relieved to see him get liberated from the pain.

He also recalled how traumatic it was to see his father in so much pain. “I had my hands full with this dying man. It was not easy. Cancer is a very bad way to go. It’s a very bad disease. Sometimes he’s in severe pain, sometimes he’s hallucinating, sometimes he’s… So I had to deal with all of that…” he said.

The ‘Kasam Se’ star said that he was glad he was able to help his father have a semblance of dignity at death. He explained that his father lived like a king and he wanted to ensure that he died like a royal.


Recalling his father’s final moments, the actor explained, "I was super thrilled that his pain was over. So, in that process, I was happy about the death. I was smiling at the death. So, when you start smiling at death, how can you fear it? So, now it’s a joke to me,” he shared.

Ram admitted that choosing to stand by his father during such a difficult period also took an emotional toll on his own family. Despite the personal challenges and sacrifices involved, the actor said he has no remorse over the decision. He firmly believes that supporting a man who was nearing the end of his life was the right thing to do and therefore feels no guilt or regret about being there for his father.

He also revealed that he was so determined to fulfil his father’s last wishes – to be there for him in his ultimate moments and not let the family know that his pancreatic cancer had relapsed and was not responding to treatments, that his father’s death created a rift in his family and his mother and sister did not talk to him for five years. But he still did not regret his decision as he did his duty.
