In 2012, Upasana began a new chapter of her life when she married renowned actor Ram Charan. Over the years, their bond deepened with love and companionship, and in 2023, their journey together reached a beautiful milestone as they welcomed their daughter, Klin Kaara, into the world.
She is the heir to a Rs 77,000 crore empire and the wife of superstar Ram Charan. However, Upasana Konidela refuses to be overshadowed or defined solely by these identities. In an emotional Instagram post, Upasana underlined what makes her “khas” (special).

Her post began on a humorous note, appearing to be an appeal to float a new party, the “Khas Aadmi Party” (a clever pun on the Aam Aadmi Party name), then took on a more poignant tone. She maintained that she was “khas”, not because she is the heiress of a multi-billion dollar empire or the wife of one of the most sought-after leading men in the Telugu film industry, but because of her perseverance. “I became khas because I faced pressure and pain and chose to rise anyway. I have doubted myself; I have fallen. I have started over…” she wrote.

She also explained that you become “khas” the very moment you decide to believe in yourself and invest in self-love. Rather than being defined by materialistic success and professional milestones, being “khas” is a mindset.

“Being ‘khas’ has nothing to do with money, status, or fame. It begins with self-worth and is powered by gratitude, kindness, and courage,” she explained.

Her post took a sombre note when she observed that more often than most women are expected to see themselves as “Aam Aadmi.”

“We are praised for being selfless but rarely encouraged to dream big or prioritise personal growth.” She further added that when women learn to love themselves and are not insecure, they uplift not just themselves but others as well.

She further illustrated the glaring disparities between the two genders in the corporate world. Only 17% of C-suite roles in India are held by women, and 63% of Indian firms lack women in key managerial positions.

She clarified that the Khas Aadmi Party is not a political movement or an exclusive club for the moneyed elite but a call to action to her followers to change their mindset that embraces self-love, self-confidence, and prioritises mental health and well-being.

Upasana holds the position of Vice-Chairperson for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at Apollo Hospitals, an institution established by her grandfather, Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, who also serves as its Chairman. She was recently featured in a vlog hosted by content creator Kamiya Jani, where it was highlighted that the healthcare conglomerate is valued at approximately Rs 77,000 crore. In addition to her role at Apollo, Upasana leads as the Managing Director of Family Health Plan Insurance TPA (FHPL) and is also the founder of UR Life, a comprehensive platform dedicated to holistic wellness and healthy living.

Upasana and Ram Charan tied the knot in 2012. Their family grew in 2023 with the arrival of their daughter, Klin Kaara.
