Raju Srivastava 'slowly' getting better, but still on ventilator; singer Shekhar Suman says comedian will recover in a week or two

Comedian-actor Raju Srivastava's health seems to be improving, but he continues to remain in the ICU on life support.

There is a slight improvement in the condition of popular comedian, his business manager informed on Tuesday, as reported by PTI.

"Raju's condition is slowly getting better. He is responding to the treatment. There is an improvement in his health and he can now move his body parts a bit.


"He continues to remain in the ICU and on ventilator. Doctors have informed that it will take about a week for him to regain consciousness," the artist's manager Nayan Soni told PTI.

The 58-year-old stand-up comic was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi after he suffered a heart attack on August 10.

The same day, Srivastava underwent an angioplasty.

Singer Shekhar Suman also shared an update regarding the comedian's health on Monday. The singer took to Twitter to inform fans that Srivastava was gradually and slowing recovering, informing that it will take a week or two for him to recover.

"Gradual and slow recovery of Raju Srivastava. Stable condition according to the family. Will take a week or two to recover. Overall positive," Suman tweeted.


Last week, Srivastava's family had released a statement on his condition. In the statement shared on the comedian's official Instagram account, Srivastava was "stable". The family also requested people to "ignore any rumour/fake news being circulated".

A familiar face in the entertainment industry since the 1980s, Srivastava catapulted to fame after participating in the first season of the reality stand-up comedy show 'The Great Indian Laughter Challenge' in 2005. He is also the chairman of the Film Development Council Uttar Pradesh.

Srivastava has featured in Hindi films such as 'Maine Pyar Kiya', 'Baazigar', the remake of 'Bombay to Goa' and 'Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya'.
