Rajinikanth doffs his hat at 'proud Indians’, Karan Johar jumps for joy as 'Naatu Naatu' bags Oscar

Indians all over the world are busy celebrating ‘Naatu Naatu’s Oscar win.

Many desi celebrities took to social media to gush over the historic win and congratulate the ‘RRR’ team. Superstar Rajinikanth was one of them.

The ‘Thalapathi’ star took to Twitter to gush about the big win. Congratulating all the Indian winners—the ‘RRR’ team as well as ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ director Kartiki Gonsalves for the milestone achievement and said their win is a matter of pride for the whole of India.


“My hearty congratulations to Shri. Keeravani, Shri. Rajamouli, and Shri. Kartiki Gonsalves for getting the prestigious Oscar Award. I salute the proud Indians.” The tweet soon went viral, with over 497K views and 31K likes.
Maestro AR Rahman also left a hearty congratulations to MM Keeravani and lyricist Chandra Bose for the win. Taking to Twitter, the composer wrote, "Congratulations @mmkeeravaani garu and @boselyricist garu ....as predicted and well deserved ..Jai Ho to both of you and the #RRR team!! #RRRatOSCARS."
Telugu actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu took to Instagram to laud the ‘RRR’ team. Tagging director SS Rajamouli, ‘Naatu Naatu’ composer MM Keeravani, and the film’s two male leads, Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, she described the win as “an incredible moment. Prabhu’s ex, actor Naga Chaitanya, also gushed about the movie on his Twitter handle. “What a historic moment! You make us proud .. congrats to the entire team .. Salute !!!" tweeted the ‘Majili’ star. Bollywood star, Alia Bhatt, who also featured in the movie, celebrated the win on her Insta Stories.

A-listers from other industries also joined in the celebration. Bollywood director-producer Karan Johar gushed about the two Oscar wins on his Instagram Stories. “Paving the way like legends... so proud, so ecstatic … big shoutout to both teams !”, he wrote. He also shared a still from the chartbuster, and wrote, “Historic!!!! OMG!! I was jumping on my bed!!!"

‘Naatu Naatu’ is the second Indian song to bag an Oscar, almost a decade after AR Rahman’s ‘Jai Ho’ (from the 2008 hit ‘Slumdog Millionaire’) won an Oscar for Best Original Song. It is also the first Telugu song to achieve this milestone.
