International sculptor Lorenzo Quinn’s quick visit to India created a buzz amongst the swish set, who saw the artist’s works firsthand at a recent event hosted by Indiabull’s Chairman Sameer Gehlaut and his wife Divya, along with Chhaya Momaya. But we hear that the cherry on the cake for Quinn was his visit to the home of Mumbaibased Rajesh Shah, of Mukand Steel and owner of Patna Pirates Kabbadi team.

Quinn was so impressed with Shah’s sprawling home that he wanted to skip his fl ight to Barcelona later that night and stay over. “Rajesh’s home is like a museum and it stretches up to six fl oors, adorned with works of art from every corner of India and parts of Europe as well,” says Momaya, who had extended Shah’s invitation to Quinn. The sculptor enjoyed bajra rotis, tomato curries and papads, taking an interest in their preparation.

Quinn, Momaya says, especially loved a room with a mural of galloping horses on its windows. Things ended on an emotional note when Quinn revealed that it was the 100th birth anniversary of his father, the late actor Anthony Quinn, that day and that he was glad to be bringing it in with a lovely meal at the home of an art afi cionado.
