The thrill of winning an elite international car race is still etched on Advait Deodhar’s face. The 28-year-old, who became the first Indian to win a NASCAR race earlier last week, says he had to “pinch himself” to believe that he had won.

But it’s not all cars for this racer. The Mumbai-based Deodhar is a sailing buff, and outside of the racing track, he brokers yachts for the billionaires of the world.

“In the yachting world, I am fortunate to work with the one per cent of the world. My interaction with some of the most successful and intelligent people in the world has taught me a lot,” he told ETPanache.

He may be diversifying with yachting, but Deodhar soon steers the conversation back on track. “Sebastian Vettel has inspired my racing. He has always been ‘all or nothing’. If he makes a mistake, he apologises to the team and owns up. There’s a lot to be learned from that,” he said.
