Queen Of Tears’ star Park Sung Hoon cleared the debate on him hailing from a wealthy chaebol family once and for all. In a recent episode of the tvN programme ‘Hangout With Yoo’, Sunghoon revealed that contrary to being raised amid an abundance of wealth, his parents faced financial hardships after his father lost his job during the IMG crisis in South Korea. There was a time when the family had to survive on kimchi and water.

The actor revealed that when he was serving in the military, his parents requested that he delay coming home for holiday, as they were surviving on kimchi and water and they wouldn’t be able to give him pocket money.

Sung Hoon admitted that he broke down after the phone call. “After the phone call, I think I cried a lot,” he said.


A clip of Sunghoon opening up on his financial hardships has gone viral on X. It gained more than 1.7 million views and over 27K likes. “I was really happy to see that, apart from the queen Hye Kyo, The Glory cast actors who weren’t big names and allowed them do shine because now all of them are basically flooded with projects of all types…” wrote one.

Who Is Park Sung Hoon?

Sunghoon is a South Korean actor, best known for dramas such as ‘The Glory’ and ‘Queen Of Tears’. He made his debut in 2008 with a small role in the erotic thriller ‘A Frozen Flower’. He rose to the limelight with the horror drama ‘Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum’ (2018), and the romantic drama ‘My Only One’ (2019).

His current sitcom ‘Queen Of Tears’ has him essaying the role of the antagonist David Yoon. ‘Queen Of Tears’ became the highest-rated drama on tvN, surpassing ‘Crash Landing On You’.
