As reported by the Deccan Herald, the filmmakers have secured permission from the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments to increase ticket prices for this action-packed spectacle. According to a leading distributor, ticket rates in the two Telugu states will be Rs 600 per person, marking the highest price ever for a Telugu film. This government-sanctioned hike is valid for four days, from Thursday, December 5, to Sunday, December 9), aiming to generate massive opening collections.
Raising ticket prices for major releases has become a common trend. Movies such as Kalki 2898 AD, Salaar, and Devara received similar approvals, with rates ranging from Rs 395 to Rs 495. However, the extraordinary buzz surrounding Pushpa 2: The Rule has justified an even steeper price increase. The film is set to debut in over 800 theaters across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with multiple daily screenings planned to meet the surging demand.
In a unique move, the Telangana government has authorized special screenings on December 4, a day before the official release. These preview shows, available in both single-screen theaters and multiplexes, will begin at 9:30 PM, with ticket prices allowed to increase by Rs 800 for the occasion.
On the release day, December 5, the Telangana government has permitted two additional shows at 1 AM and 4 AM, in addition to the standard five daily screenings. For these extra shows, single-screen theaters can raise ticket prices by Rs 150 until December 8. From December 9 to 16, the surcharge will be reduced to Rs 105, and from December 17 to 23, it will drop to Rs 20. After December 23, ticket prices will return to normal.
For multiplexes, ticket prices may rise by Rs 200 between December 5 and 8, decrease to Rs 150 from December 9 to 16, and further reduce to Rs 50 from December 17 to 23. These price increases are exclusive of GST.
