Punjab 95: Diljit Dosanjh's film release date revealed. When and where to watch it?

Punjabi star and singer Diljit Dosanjh has announced the global release of his highly anticipated film Panjab 95 on February 7. The film, based on the life of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, will be released without any cuts but will not be screened in India for the time being. Directed by Honey Trehan and produced under Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP Movies banner, the movie had faced delays due to issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The cast also includes Arjun Rampal and Suvinder Vicky, known for his role in Kohraa. The film delves into Khalra’s tireless fight for justice during Punjab’s period of militancy. It focuses on his investigations into human rights abuses and the disappearances of Sikhs during that era. Diljit recently shared the trailer, showcasing his portrayal of Khalra and the challenges he faced in uncovering mass human rights violations. Along with the clip, he shared a caption that read, “Panjab ’95 releases in Cinemas Internationally only on 7th February. P.S. Full Movie, No Cuts.”

About Panjab 95

The film highlights Khalra’s work in exposing the mass cremation of thousands of unidentified bodies in Punjab between 1984 and 1994. His efforts to bring these violations to light drew both admiration and danger.

In 1995, Khalra mysteriously disappeared, and in 2005, four police officers were arrested for his abduction and murder. Two years later, the Punjab and Haryana High Court extended their original seven-year sentence to life imprisonment.

Initially set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023, the film was unexpectedly pulled from the lineup without explanation. Despite these setbacks, Panjab 95 is now poised for its international debut, bringing Khalra’s powerful story to audiences worldwide.
