The demise of Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput has sent the nation into a state of mourning. While the Mumbai Police is investigating Rajput’s death, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has sent out a tweet saying that the Mumbai Police will also probe the ‘professional rivalry’ angle.

Deshmukh posted a 25-second video on his Twitter account, in which he said, “As per the post-mortem report of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, it’s been proven that he has died of suicide.”

“From the media reports, it seems that the business rivalry in the film industry could be a reason behind his suicide. This angle, too, will be probed by the Police,” Deshmukh said.

Several industry insiders, like actor Vivek Oberoi, film-maker Anubhav Sinha, producer Nikhil Dwivedi and others had called out the industry for its insensitivity, especially to outsiders, post-Rajput’s demise.

Known for films like "MS Dhoni: The Untold Story" and "Kedarnath", Rajput was found hanging at his Bandra home on June 14. Initial reports suggested that the actor had allegedly died of suicide. No suicide note was found in Rajput’s apartment. His post-mortem report said that he had died of asphyxiation.

The actor was cremated at the Vile Parle crematorium on Monday amid heavy downpour.

Apart from Rajput’s friends Rhea Chakraborty, actor Kriti Sanon, casting director Mukesh Chhabra, Rajput’s ‘Chhichhore' co-stars Shraddha Kapoor and Varun Sharma, film-maker Abhishek Kapoor, producer Ekta Kapoor, actors Vivek Oberoi, Randeep Hooda, and Prateik Babbar, and singer Udit Narayan were present at the crematorium.
