Producer Atul Kasbekar rubbishes Neerja’s colleague’s accusation

Sonam Kapoor's 'Neerja' has been receiving immense praise from the audience and critics alike. Based on the infamous 1986 Pam Am flight hijacking, the film has managed to strike a chord with people across societies. But 'Neerja' was embroiled in controversy after Nupoor Abrol, one of the flight attendants on the ill-fated flight, took to Facebook a couple of days ago and accused the makers of allegedly giving undue importance to Neerja's character. According to her, Neerja wasn't the only hero, three others- Astrid, Sherene, Sunshine and Massey- were the actual heroes of the incident.

Abrol took to Facebook to express her distress saying, "Yes, truly a very difficult moment. But also a difficult moment for all those flight attendants to accept the movie for what it is unfairly propagating. Neerja was a wonderful person and I think even her soul today would cringe at taking this undeserved adulation. Not fair to the FA's who have in reality faced their ordeal!"

But now, producer Atul Kasbekar, has rubbished Abrol's accusations. According to a report on BollywoodLife.com, Kasbekar allegedly said that Abrol wasn't even on the flight that got hijacked. He also mentioned that Neerja was given bravery awards not just in India but also Pakistan and America and that one should also check with the people who were present on the flight.

Whether this puts an end to the controversy or ignites a new one is yet to be seen.
