Priyanka Chopra slams news report that called her ‘wife of Nick Jonas’, asks ‘Should I add IMDB link to bio?’

The western media seems to need a frequent reminder that Priyanka Chopra has had a very successful Bollywood career of over 12 years before kick starting her Hollywood stint with the TV series, ‘Quantico’ in 2015. Recently, when the actress was busy promoting her film, ‘The Matrix Resurrections’, a news outlet referred to her as ‘wife of Nick Jonas’ in one of their articles, diminishing her entire identity to being a wife of someone famous, as opposed to being a famous actress with a long filmography and the Miss World 2000 title to her credit. Chopra obviously did not take this lying down.

The actress shared screenshots of the article on her Instagram stories. “Very interesting that I’m promoting one of the most iconic film franchises of all time, and I’m still referenced as ‘the wife of…’," she wrote and sarcastically offered to add her IMDB link to her bio so that moving forward people don’t identify her ONLY as ‘the wife of Nick Jonas’.

In the story, she further asked, “Please explain how this still happens to women?”. The actress also tagged her singer-songwriter husband in it.

Chopra’s acting credentials have been questioned in the past by American Twitter users who are not familiar with her large oeuvre of work in Bollywood. After Netflix premiered the ‘Jonas Brothers Family Roast’ in which Priyanka joked about the age difference between her and husband Jonas and pointed out that they have taught each other a lot - like Jonas had tutored her on how to use TikTok - , and she had showed him what a successful film career looks like, Chopra was mercilessly trolled by many American Twitter users who raised the question, ‘what acting career?’.

Indians across the microblogging platform stepped in to defend the actress and pointed out how popular she is in India as well as in many other countries. PeeCee, as she is popularly known, , however, has managed to remain unfazed by such trolls. She is currently gearing up for her next outing at the theatres with the ‘Matrix’ franchise film, ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ starring Keanu Reeves in the lead role. In this film, she joins the cast as older Sati. The film opens in theatres next week.
