Priyanka Chopra joins Chandrayaan-2 parade late, hails women scientists behind the mission

The actress lauded the ladies in-charge - Muthayya Vanitha and Ritu Karidhal - in her tweet.

NEW DELHI: The success of Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) latest mission - Chandrayaan 2 - has made India proud. Actress Priyanka Chopra joined an array of Bollywood celebrities like Akshay Kumar to Shah Rukh Khan to laud the space mission, and thanked the women scientists for setting a great example.

The 37-year-old actress took to Twitter to hail the ladies in-charge - Muthayya Vanitha and Ritu Karidhal - behind the country's second indigenous mission to the Moon. In her tweet, she also said that she always wanted to be woman scientist.



The 'Mary Kom' actor tweeted nearly five days after ISRO's big achievement. While many fans appreciated her for taking the time out, others criticised her for the the asthma controversy she got into a couple of days back when a picture of her smoking went viral. She had earlier revealed that she was asthmatic since the age of five. Mrs Jonas was trolled mercilessly for smoking, and the her followers called her a hypocrite.

Chandrayaan-2 is India's first space mission that will conduct a soft landing on the moon's South Polar Region. The mission makes India 4th country to the soft-land rover on the surface of the moon after Russia, USA, and China.
