Mumbai polls a starry affair; Ambanis, Bachchans, Tendulkars turn up to vote

Actor Shah Rukh Khan and his wife, director Gauri Khan, were accompanied by their little one AbRam to the poll booth today. The 53-year-old actor took to Twitter to share a family picture. He wrote, "Little one was a bit confused between ‘Boating’ and Voting, so took him along to experience the difference."

Members of the Bachchan clan, including Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Aishwarya and Abhishek, also cast their vote today. The four were spotted at a polling booth in Juhu.

Actress Deepika Padukone, who is currently shooting for the film 'Chhapaak' took to Instagram to share a picture of herself after getting inked. She wrote, "Never has there been any doubt in my mind about who I am or where I’m from.So for those of you confused on my behalf...please don’t be!Jai Hind! #proudtobeanindian #govote".

Actress Priyanka Chopra joined the long list of celebrities who stepped out to cast their vote today. The 36-year-old, who is in the country to attend her brother's wedding, shared a proud picture on Instagram after being inked. She wrote, "This is the moment that matters.... Every vote is a voice that counts".

Actors Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh joined director Karan Johar to exercise their voting right.

Khan, who is currently gearing up for his upcoming film 'Bharat', cast his vote at polling booth number 283 in Bandra today, while the 33-year-old 'Gully Boy' actor took to Instagram to share a picture of himself after getting inked. Ranveer wrote, 'VOTE!!!'

Johar, who has directed blockbusters like 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' and 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', cast his vote as well.

Actor Anupam Kher was clicked while casting his vote today. The 64-year-old was spotted at polling booth number 235-240 in Juhu. His actress-wife, Kirron Kher, is also testing her political acumen as she fights anti-incumbency from Chandigarh.

Actress Hema Malini, who is seeking an encore in Mathura on a BJP ticket, was also seen casting her vote. The actress-MP (M) was accompanied by daughters Esha (R) and Ahana (L) at a Vile Parle polling booth today. The 'Sholay' actress opted for a simple blue saree.

Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan also cast her vote today. The 38-year-old 'Veere Di Wedding' actress was accompanied by her little munchkin Taimur Ali Khan to the polling booth today.

Actor Aamir Khan and his wife, filmmaker Kiran Rao, joined B-town celebs in casting their vote today. The couple posed proudly after getting inked at the polling booth in Bandra's St. Anne's High School.

The Reliance ADAG group chairman Anil Ambani was one of the early voters in Mumbai. The 59-year-old, who is again in the news after Reliance Home Finance and Reliance Commercial Finance were downgraded, was spotted at the voting centre number 216 at the GD Somani School in Cuffe Parade today.

After the recent Jet Airways crisis, the airline's founder Naresh Goyal made his first public appearance today. The 69-year-old, who stepped down as the airline's chairman last month, was spotted outside South Mumbai's Villa Theresa Convent where he posed for the shutterbugs after casting his vote.

Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran was also clicked after he exercised his franchise. He was accompanied by his wife Lalitha Chandrasekaran.

Priya Dutt (L) was accompanied by her husband Owen Roncon (R), Oranjuice Entertainment partner, to the polling booth today. The 52-year-old daughter of Bollywood stars Nargis and Sunil Dutt has been a long-time Congress leader, and has also served as a Member of Parliament. This year, she takes on Bhartiya Janata Party's Poonam Mahajan for the Mumbai North-Central seat which Dutt had lost in the 2014 elections.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das was spotted at the polling booth. The 62-year-old, who was appointed as the RBI's 25th Governor last year, was captured while casting his vote at polling booth number 40 and 41 on Peddar road.

Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, accompanied by wife Anjali and kids Sara and Arjun, also cast his vote today. The 46-year-old and his family posed outside a polling booth number 203 in Bandra.

The chairman and MD of JSW Group, Sajjan Jindal, also exercised his voting right today. The 59-year-old business tycoon reiterated the need for a stable government at the Centre to provide continuity and drive economic growth. He also said that the nation's interest was larger than individual gains.

Tennis legend Mahesh Bhupathi cast his vote for the first time this year. The 44-year-old took to Instagram to share a picture after getting inked. He wrote, 'Let’s vote Mumbai !! #noexcuses #loksabhaelections2019'.

RPG Group boss Harsh Goenka took to Twitter to spread voting awareness and the importance of practising it wisely.|

The 61-year-old wrote, "Today you may vote as per your choice. Exercise your vote wisely “ my wife told me in the polling booth. I asked whom she was voting for. And I wisely decided to vote for the same party. We husbands are like this only. We want our freedom but we are used to following our wives."

Actress-turned-politician Jaya Prada's ongoing political career kicked off in 1994 when she joined the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). In 2004, the 57-year-old became a part of the Samajwadi Party (SP). However, in 2010, she was expelled due to anti-party activities.

In March this year, Prada joined BJP. She is set to take on her friend-turned-foe, SP's Azam Khan, from Rampur today.

Singer Hans Raj Hans first stint with politics was in 2009 when he joined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). He resigned from the party in 2014. Two years later, in 2016, he joined the Congress party. However, he did not feel welcome in the Rahul Gandhi-led party. In the same year, he switched to the BJP.

In the 17th Lok Sabha polls, the singer is competing against Congress's Udit Raj from North-west Delhi.

If he proves victorious today, he will be one of the leading Dalit faces from the party.
