Prince Harry and Meghan Markle chose Nottingham for their first joint UK appearance

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently made their first joint public appearance in the UK since returning with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in Nottingham on October 15. While the couple appeared comfortable greeting well-wishers and visiting local charities, reports suggest that their priorities may be moving in different directions.

Harry and Meghan's Nottingham visit's significance

The couple chose Nottingham for their first joint engagement since their return to the UK with their children in late August. The city holds personal significance for them as it was where they made their first public walkabout together after announcing their engagement in 2017.

During their October 15 visit, around 150 people gathered to greet them outside the Community Recording Studio, according to AOL. Meghan received flowers, balloons and gifts from members of the public, telling well-wishers, “It’s great to be back.”

Harry also expressed a similar sentiment in a conversation with the BBC, saying, “Wonderful and great to be back in Nottingham too.”

Former royal butler Grant Harrold suggested that the location was a deliberate choice. Speaking to OLBG, he said the visit sent a message that the couple intended to carry out engagements as part of their new life in Britain.

The visit also brought Meghan back into contact with people connected to her earlier charitable work.

At the Community Recording Studio, the couple met people involved with an organisation that gives young people access to music and recording facilities. They also visited Epic Partners, which supports children and families through education and mentoring.

Meghan additionally reunited with women from the Hubb Community Kitchen, whom she supported through a charity cookbook project following the 2017 Grenfell Tower fire. Greeting them with an embrace, she said, “It’s been too long!”

Why their professional priorities are changing

A report by RadarOnline.com, cited by Marca, claims that Harry and Meghan are pursuing separate professional goals.

According to a source quoted by the outlet, Harry is focused as earlier on charitable causes, veterans and public service, while Meghan is concentrating on her commercial ventures and opportunities in entertainment.

The source suggested that the couple were no longer approaching their professional lives as a joint undertaking. Instead, they may spend more time attending different events and developing projects independently.

These claims have not been confirmed by Harry or Meghan. However, they come as the couple settle into a new routine after reportedly prioritising their children's transition to school. A source close to them previously told People that both were excited to focus more on their work and the projects that mattered to them, ELLE reported.

Meanwhile, after their Nottingham appearance, body language expert Judi James, speaking to HELLO!, examined their interactions, including Harry's gestures as Meghan spent time talking to members of the public. She compared the moment with similar interactions involving Prince William and Kate Middleton, while noting the couple's relaxed movements and clasped hands.

Also, King Charles had earlier reaffirmed their status as non-working royals in a letter issued on September 7, according to AOL.
