Prem Chopra reveals superstar who messages him to ask about his health every day: ‘He persists sweetly…’

Veteran performer Prem Chopra has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in cinema, having begun his journey in the early 1960s. By the time Amitabh Bachchan stepped into the film industry toward the end of that decade, Prem Chopra had already established himself as a recognizable and respected face on screen. Over the years, the two actors went on to share screen space in numerous films, building not only a professional association but also a strong personal bond. In a recent interaction, Prem Chopra reflected on their friendship, recalling how they would often spend late nights together in lively conversation and companionship. He also opened up about how their relationship has evolved over time, revealing a touching gesture that continues to this day.

During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Prem Chopra spoke about the concern Amitabh Bachchan has shown for him, particularly after a health setback. He shared that since his return home following a hospital stay in November 2025, Bachchan has made it a habit to reach out to him every morning. The veteran actor had been diagnosed with a serious heart condition known as Aortic stenosis, which required a minor medical procedure. Fortunately, the treatment was successful, and he has since been on the path to recovery.

Prem Chopra revealed that Bachchan continues to send him daily messages expressing concern and wishing him good health, even after being reassured about his recovery. He described the gesture as persistent yet affectionate, highlighting the warmth and sincerity in Bachchan’s actions.


On the professional front, Prem Chopra was last seen in the film Animal, which starred Ranbir Kapoor and was released in 2023. In the same discussion, he mentioned that he has been declining new acting opportunities in recent times, primarily due to his health considerations. He explained that unless a project truly stands out and feels exceptional, he does not feel motivated to return to work at this stage.
