Dr A Velumani recently shared his wisdom on the importance of time management.
Every successful person you admire has one thing in common: the same 24 hours in a day as you. But what sets them apart is not how much time they have—it’s how they choose to use it. If you’ve been juggling too many priorities or chasing every new opportunity, maybe it’s time to pause, refocus, and realign. And no one puts it better than Dr A. Velumani, founder of Thyrocare and a master of time-tested wisdom.

In a recent video that’s been making the rounds online, Dr Velumani served Monday motivation. In the video, he can be seen addressing a group of youngsters with the kind of blunt clarity that stops you in your tracks. “It is how wisely you spend your time that decides how successful you are going to become,” he says. “All of us have only 24 hours. You too. I, too.” His message isn’t coated in buzzwords or life hacks, it’s simple: sort your life by priority, and stick to it.

He urges viewers to take a piece of paper and write down the five most important things in their life, in descending order of importance. Then, he drops the game-changer: “Focus on only one.” “You will become very powerful,” he says. He means laser-focused, unshakeable, and on track. “Until problem number one is solved, you are not even going to the second problem.”

This is more than just advice. It’s a mindset shift. Most of us spend our days firefighting a dozen tasks, never fully solving the core issues that actually hold us back. Dr Velumani’s take? Stay on the problem. Solve it. “Time management is ultimate,” he says. “But by any chance you don’t know what is happening with your time, be prepared to be a beggar.”

Reposting the video on his timeline, he summed it up with a sharp punchline: “Priorities decide the prosperity. Prioritise or Perish!!”
