‘Ponniyin Selvan:1’ mints over Rs 230 cr worldwide in 3 days, cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin calls it a 'compelling watch'

According to noted film trade analyst, Ramesh Bala, the film has grossed over Rs 230 crore at the worldwide box office. Bala took to his Twitter account to make the announcement.

The film has been hailed by critics for its accurate adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy’s eponymous novel published in 1955. It has been appreciated for its performances, visuals, sound design, costumes, and background score. Several theaters across Tamil Nadu witnessed celebrations on the first day of the film’s release.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin took to his Twitter account to heap praise on the epic action film. The cricketer who was visibly impressed by the film hailed Ratnam for his faithful adaptation and the performances in the film.

The film, which has been shot in two parts, was released in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The second installment of the historic epic drama is expected to be released in 2023.
