The counting of votes for five Assembly polls on Thursday showed positive results for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

BJP retained power with impressive victory in three states - Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur - and is expected to retain Goa too.

In Punjab, AAP scored a smashing victory by getting over three-fourths seats in a multi-cornered contest.

India Inc bosses took to social media to congratulate the winning political parties.

Anil Agarwal, Executive Chairman of Vedanta Resources Limited, congratulated BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is also a member of the winning party, for the landslide victory in four states. He said he is confident that the new government will deliver for the people.

"It is a state with so much potential. Wish them my best," Agarwal wrote.

JSW Group Chairman and MD Sajjan Jindal said that the Assembly poll results show that people want development and governance over casteism.

"Happy that BJP gets another term to set things right for the deprived people of these states," his caption read.

"People of UP want stability and progress, and Adityanath has delivered both," she wrote.

When a user said that calling BJP's victory in UP a "progressive" development agenda was shameful, Mazumdar-Shaw urged him/her to go beyond perception. She stressed that there has been 'real development' on the ground.

"Infrastructure jobs and rural development is evident. I have learnt of this from various quarters," she added.
