Talking about the connection between the two countries, PM Modi said that Indians and Americans are slowly getting to know each other better.
Raising a toast to the youth of the countries, Modi said, "With every passing day, Indians and Americans are getting to know each other better. We can pronounce each other's name correctly, we can understand each other's accent better..."
PM Modi also mentioned the Oscar-winning song 'Naatu Naatu' in his speech. The fast-paced song from the Ram Charan and Jr NTR-starrer 'RRR' won many international awards this year and became a global phenomenon.
As many Indian children decide to dress as Spider-Man on Halloween, Modi said that 'Naatu Naatu' is now a part of American youth's playlist. "Children in India become Spider-Man on Halloween and America's youth is dancing to the tunes of 'Naatu Naatu'," he said.
In his speech, Modi also spoke about the high-profile guests, who he said made the state dinner evening special with their presence. He called them "most precious assets."
"This evening is made special by the presence of the people of our two countries, they are our most precious assets. When we met in Japan, for the Quad Summit, you mentioned a problem that you were facing, I am sure that you must have resolved that problem. I hope you were able to fit in everyone who wanted to come for the dinner tonight," Modi added.
US President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr Jill Biden hosted a state dinner for more than 400 guests at the specially decorated pavilion on the South Lawn of the White House.
