#loksabhaelections2019 , #chandrayaan2 and #cwc19 were the most tweeted hashtags this year on Twitter, while prime minister Narendra Modi’s (@narendramodi) tweet celebrating BJP’s re-election victory in #loksabhaelections2019 was the most-retweeted and liked tweet of the year, micro blogging platform Twitter said on Tuesday while releasing its end of the year highlights.


The news of the death of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel in an attack on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Pulwama district leading to the hashtag #pulwama, #article370 resulting from Article 370 of the Indian Constitution being revoked, and Tamil blockbuster #bigil were among the other trending hashtags on the platform. Twitter said it ranked the hashtags by the number of unique authors discussing the topics on Twitter from January 1 -November 15.

Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan were the most-talked about male celebrities in the world of entertainment while Sonakshi Sinha, Anushka Sharma and Lata Mangeshkar were the most-talked about female celebrities.

Virat Kohli, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rohit Sharma were the most-talked about male celebrities in the world of sports while PV Sindhu, Hima Das and Sania Mirza were the most-mentioned female handles in sports. Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi and Amit Shah were the most-mentioned male handles in politics. Smriti Z Irani, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Sushma Swaraj were the most-mentioned female politicians on the platform.
