Plan your break: 2019 doesn't have too many long weekends

Unlike 2018 that had 16 long weekends, the new year will offer only 10.

The first long weekend of the year is in January; and August and April will have the highest number of holidays.
As the countdown to 2019 nears, it's time for New Year resolutions to take shape. And for most working professionals, travel goals occupy an important part of the thought-process, with much brainstorming, singularly and collectively, happening over where to go and when.

While the destination - where to go - depends on various factors, the timing depends on the best dates available. And nothing better than a long weekend for busy executives to make the most of it, without having to take too many days off.

So, we looked at the calendar and did some homework, and guess what we found: 2018 offered many, more, long weekends than 2019. The outgoing year saw 16 long weekends, offering plenty of opportunities for mini-vacations.

2019 has the lowest number of long weekends in five years.

For 2019, you will have to plan better and smarter. That's because it has only 10 long weekends, provided you are able to take off from work to club with the weekend.

But be prepared to apply for more leave at work than you did in 2018, if you are planning any weekend getaways.
