Pep Guardiola is yet to come to terms with driving, especially in England.
“Ole’s at the wheel,” sang Manchester City fans mockingly, after their team dumped crosstown rivals Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup earlier this year. With Pep Guardiola in the driver’s seat, Manchester City has enjoyed unprecedented success, but perhaps the Spanish manager needs to let go of driving duties in a more literal sense. Guardiola is yet to come to terms with driving, especially in England.
“He has a reputation from his Barcelona days of being a hapless driver, and this is the fourth car he has owned since coming to Manchester,” reported a British tabloid.
Since moving to England in 2016, Guardiola has damaged a Mercedes GLE, a Range Rover, a Bentley and a Mini Cooper, with the cost of repairs adding up to £460,000. For someone who has cultivated an image of being a perfectionist, Guardiola has been rather careless. “His wing mirrors don’t survive for long and he’s also managed to fill a diesel Range Rover with petrol and mangle a silver Bentley,” the tabloid added.
