PeeCee, Nick extend a helping hand, donate an undisclosed amount for Bihar, Assam floods

Chopra has made a name for herself as a tech investor, but our very own ‘Desi Girl’ is particularly interested in companies working for social welfare and the ones that have been founded by women. As per Diversity Woman, one of PeeCee’s first investments is in Holberton School, a school that teaches software coding. Chopra will serve on the school’s board of advisors.

Chopra has also invested in Bumble, a dating and social media app developed by another woman entrepreneur in tech, Whitney Wolfe Herd.

In September 2019, Bumble had announced a $5,000 grant for women entrepreneurs.

Apart from acting, Chopra also made a name for herself in the music industry. The actress-turned-singer was signed to Universal Music Group and her first studio album was released in the US by Interscope Records and was produced by RedOne.

Her first single, "In My City", featuring rapper will.i.am, debuted in the US on 13 September 2012 in a TV spot for the NFL Network's Thursday Night Football.

In July 2013, Chopra released her second single 'Exotic' featuring American rapper Pitbull, along with its music video. 'Exotic' debuted at number 16 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Songs and number 11 on the Dance/Electronic Digital Songs chart on 27 July 2013 issue.

Chopra's first song as a playback singer in Bollywood was ‘Chaoro’, a lullaby from ‘Mary Kom’ (2014). In 2015, she sang the title song, a duet with Farhan Akhtar, for ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’.

Besides being a phenomenal singer and an entrepreneur, our beloved ‘Desi Girl’ has also donned the producer’s hat on multiple occasions. Located in Mumbai, Purple Pebble Pictures (PPP), is a film production company established by PeeCee that produces small-budget films and promotes new talent such as actors, writers, directors and technicians.

In 2014, it was announced that Chopra will be playing the protagonist in Madhur Bhandarkar’s film ‘Madamji’ and will be co-producing it with Bhandarkar Entertainment. In 2016, Chopra took to Twitter to announce her production house Purple Pebble Pictures’ first venture - ‘It’s My City’, a bi-weekly sitcom about 4 girls sharing an apartment in Mumbai and their life and struggles.

The series aired exclusively on mobile app nexGTV, which is a digital platform for entertainment.

Chopra, reiterating her firm belief that good content knows no boundaries, announced on her Instagram last month that she is signing a multi-million dollar deal with Amazon. She said that she had always dreamt of an ‘open canvas’ where creative talent from around the world can come together and create.

Before striking the deal, Chopra Jonas was already collaborating with Amazon on two television projects: “Sangeet,” an unscripted series co-produced with her husband, Nick Jonas, based on the Indian pre-wedding tradition in which the families of the bride and groom compete against each other in song and dance, and “Citadel,” Anthony and Joe Russo’s spy series in which she’ll star with Richard Madden.
