Buchi Babu Sana’s Peddi continues its strong run at the box office, with the Ram Charan-led sports drama inching closer to the coveted Rs 100 crore net mark in India within just two days of release. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences, the film has managed to draw large crowds, particularly in the Telugu-speaking markets, giving it one of the biggest starts of the year.

Peddi box office collection day-wise

According to early estimates from Sacnilk, Peddi earned Rs 26.90 crore net in India on its second day across 10,113 shows. With this, the film’s total India net collection has reached Rs 96.40 crore, putting it within touching distance of the ₹100 crore milestone. Its India gross collection currently stands at Rs 114.49 crore.

The film had opened with a massive Rs 51 crore net on Day 1, making Day 2 collections lower by around 47.3 per cent. While the drop is notable, the numbers remain strong enough to keep the film firmly on track for a successful opening weekend.

Beyond India, Peddi has also performed well in international markets. The sports drama added Rs 8 crore gross overseas on its second day, taking its total overseas earnings to Rs 36 crore gross. As a result, the film’s worldwide gross collection has climbed to an impressive Rs 150.49 crore within two days of release.

The Telugu states continue to be the film’s biggest strength. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together contributed Rs 25 crore gross on Day 2 alone, accounting for the majority of the film’s domestic earnings. Karnataka emerged as the second-largest contributor with Rs 3.23 crore gross, while Tamil Nadu added Rs 70 lakh. Kerala contributed Rs 7 lakh, and the rest of India collectively brought in around Rs 3 crore.

The film’s dubbed versions witnessed comparatively lower attendance. The Kannada version recorded an overall occupancy of 17.04 per cent, while the Tamil version registered 19.80 per cent occupancy, as per the same report. However, both versions showed better turnout during the later shows of the day compared to the morning screenings.

More about Peddi

Written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi features Ram Charan in the title role alongside Janhvi Kapoor. The film also stars Shiva Rajkumar and Jagapathi Babu in pivotal roles. Produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas, the project is co-produced by Ishan Saksena under IVY Entertainment and presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings.

The story follows Peddi, a young man searching for his identity and purpose through sports. As he explores cricket, wrestling, and sprinting, his journey gradually earns national recognition. While many viewers have praised the film’s sports-centric narrative and Ram Charan’s performance, some criticism has been directed at the way Janhvi Kapoor’s character, Achiyamma, has been written and portrayed.

With a reported budget exceeding Rs 250 crore, Peddi is among the most expensive Telugu films of recent years. Trade analysts estimate that the film needs to collect around Rs 400–450 crore worldwide to achieve breakeven status. Given its strong opening and the weekend ahead, industry observers will be closely watching whether the film can maintain momentum and move steadily toward that target over the weekend.
