The countdown has already started. Cillian Murphy is set to return to both big screens and home screens with his upcoming film Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man. The makers recently unveiled the first official poster and confirmed that the project will not only release in theatres but will also arrive on a streaming platform. The World War II-set film brings Murphy back as Tommy Shelby and could mark the closing chapter of the gangster’s long and turbulent journey.

All you need to know about Peaky Blinders The Immortal Man

Cillian Murphy reprises his iconic role in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, a continuation of the hugely popular British crime drama Peaky Blinders. Instead of moving ahead with a seventh season, series creator Steven Knight decided to carry the story forward through a feature film. Knight returns as the writer.

The film is directed by Tom Harper, who previously helmed episodes in the show’s first season. Set in Birmingham during World War II, the story follows Tommy Shelby as he steps out of self-imposed exile. This time, he is forced to confront his past while going through the chaos of a world at war. The narrative promises high emotional stakes as Shelby struggles with power, family, legacy and his own inner demons.

The makers have confirmed that the film will have a limited theatrical release on March 6, 2026. For Indian audiences waiting to stream it at home, the movie will begin streaming on Netflix from March 20, 2026.

Murphy has hinted in earlier interactions that the film may act as a fitting conclusion to Tommy Shelby’s arc. He suggested that it could serve as a “proper ending” to the character’s journey. Echoing that sentiment, Knight described the project as the final chapters of a long novel, while also teasing that the world of Peaky Blinders may still have stories left to tell.

Cast and runtime of Peaky Blinders movie

Several familiar faces are expected to return, including Sophie Rundle, Stephen Graham, Ian Peck and Packy Lee. However, Paul Anderson will not reprise his role as Arthur Shelby. Additionally, Sam Claflin’s character Oswald Mosley has been written out of the storyline due to imprisonment within the narrative.

The film also introduces new cast members, including Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth and Barry Keoghan. While details about their characters remain under wraps, their inclusion has sparked speculation among fans about how the story might evolve, and whether a new legacy could emerge from Shelby’s shadow.

With a theatrical run followed by a digital release, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is going to be one of 2026’s most anticipated crime dramas. For fans of Tommy Shelby, this could be the final ride.
