‘Pathaan’ finally enters coveted Rs 1000 cr club at global box-office

Ever since its release, the SRK-starrer ‘Pathaan’ has been demolishing box- office records left, right, and centre. Now the espionage thriller has added another plume feather to its cap: It has entered the hallowed ‘1000 crore club’!

The Deepika Padukone-John Abraham film is said to have surpassed the Rs 1000 crore mark. Box-office collections tracker Box Office India broke the news on its Twitter handle. The movie earned Rs 623 crore in terms of gross domestic box office collections and Rs 377 crore overseas, bringing the total tally to 1,000!
With this feat, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer becomes the fifth film with such an achievement, just after Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’ (Rs 2,070.30 crore), Prabhas and Anushka Shetty’s fantasy epic ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ (Rs 1,788.06 crore), Prashanth Neel-directorial ‘KGF: Chapter 2’ (Rs 1,208 crore), and SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ (Rs 1,170 crore).


Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that the action thriller has crossed Rs 500 crore on the home turf, the only Hindi film with such a feat to date. “Pathaan will breach Rs 500 crore mark today, [fourth Tue; Day 28]…

The Siddharth Anand directorial marks Khan’s return to the big screen after almost five years of hiatus. It also marks Abraham’s return as an antagonist in a YRF (Yash Raj Films) movie, almost two decades after the 2004 action-adventure ‘Dhoom’ where he played Kabir, a suave thief.

Earlier, the movie grossed more than $100 million at the global box office without a theatrical release in China.

SRK will next be seen in the action thriller ‘Jawan’. Directed by Tamil director Atlee, the film marks Tamil superstar Nayanthara’s Bollywood debut. Aside from this, he will also be seen in Rajkumar Hirani’s social comedy ‘Dunki’ opposite Taapsee Pannu.
