Parents furious over Play-Doh’s phallic-shaped toy
Play-Doh, the pliable dough-making company that is widely considered to be a safe and child-pleasing toy, drew flak from parents this holiday season. The reason is a tool in the Play-Doh kit that bears an uncanny resemblance to a penis. A part of the Rs 1200 (approx) Sweet Shoppe Mountain Playset is the ‘extruder’, which is meant for squeezing the ‘icing’ onto Play-Doh cakes. But, when the plunger is removed, the tool looks surprisingly phallic.

Play-Doh’s Facebook page has been receiving complaints from angry parents since November, but the holiday season (and the extra gifting) has resulted in an increased amount of interest. The Facebook comments have been removed.

Play-Doh, owned by the American multinational toy company Hasbro, is said to be in the process of upgrading future Play-Doh products with a different tool. Meanwhile, photos of the toy with captions like ‘Dil-Doh’ have gone viral on social media.
