After creating some buzz with its trailer and strong female-led narrative, Paradha hit the big screens on August 22, 2025. Directed by Praveen Kandregula, known for Cinema Bandi and Shubham, the film promised a socially relevant story with emotional depth. Starring Anupama Parameswaran in the lead role, the film tackled sensitive themes like identity and societal oppression. Despite the goodwill earned from the director’s previous films, Paradha struggled to make a mark at the box office, receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. Now, the film is hoping to find a second window on digital platforms.

Where to stream Paradha online?

Paradha began streaming on Prime Video just three weeks after its theatrical release. The film is available in both Telugu and Malayalam audio, with English subtitles, making it accessible to a wider audience across regions. Given the movie’s genre and strong emotional undertones, there’s hope that it will resonate better with OTT viewers who prefer socially conscious content.

Set in a rural backdrop, Paradha tells the story of a young girl who is forced to live under a veil, hiding her identity as per the village's regressive customs. When her face is accidentally photographed, her world turns upside down, she is blamed, shamed, and ultimately banished from the village. What follows is her emotional and physical journey to reclaim her dignity, accompanied by characters played by Sangeetha and Darshana Rajendran, who support her in this fight for justice and identity.

While Anupama shoulders the film with a mature performance, she also made headlines by pointing out how female-led films are often judged more harshly, sparking conversations around gender bias in cinema. Malayalam actress Darshana Rajendran makes her Telugu debut, bringing freshness to the narrative, while seasoned actors like Rajendra Prasad, Gautham Menon, and Harshvardhan lend strong support.

More about Paradha

Despite its meaningful message and commendable performances, Paradha received mixed reviews for its predictable storyline, outdated narration, and lack of emotional impact in certain key moments. The music by Gopi Sundar and visuals were appreciated, but they weren’t enough to elevate the film’s theatrical performance.

Jointly produced by Sreenivasulu P, Vijay Donkada, and Sridhar Makkuva, Paradha may not have lived up to expectations at the box office, but its timely arrival on OTT could give it the visibility and appreciation it initially missed. Stay tuned for more updates1
