Yoga and Pranayama (breathing exercises) have been Pankaj Kankar's fitness toolkit during the lockdown.
Pankaj Kankar, COO, FarEye has been yearning to meet friends, family, and professional connections in person. "We have a vibrant HBS (Harvard Business School) and NIT-Karnataka alumni network and have been missing our regular meet-ups. I am also looking forward to the annual meditation retreat that I missed last year," he says.
Travel template Kankar would plan an extended family vacation to Europe. "Europe is a culturally rich and diverse place and it has been on my bucket list for some years now. We had planned to take this trip in the summer of 2020, however, had to cancel. So now that things have started to open up, I am eagerly looking forward to this vacation," he shares.
The lockdown has brought both physical and mental fatigue for many. "I cannot wait long for some very effective Ayurvedic therapies to detoxify and destress. I have used therapies like Panchakarma, Swendanam, and Shirodhara in the past as effective revitalisation tools," he says.
Food goodness Being a Delhiite, the one thing that was difficult to stay away from during the lockdown was street food. "I have been badly missing 'Chandni chowk ki chaat'. While we have been able to enjoy most of the other favourite dishes by cooking at home, the chaat has been eluding our taste buds and it is hard to match the flavours at home," he says.
Being a techie, tech adoption comes very naturally and is not an option for Kankar. "I already had almost everything needed for effective WFH. In fact, with lockdown cutting us off from the physical world and making almost every interaction digital, I made a conscious choice to avoid more digital tools and channels," he says.

Kankar has reignited his cooking hobby. "Earlier, I used to experiment a lot with dishes however in the last eight to 10 years, the hobby took a back seat. In the lockdown, I found the time to take it up again and dabbled with semolina idlis and dosas, variety of parathas, sabudana (sago) tikki, and varieties of khakhras," he says.
Yoga and Pranayama (breathing exercises) have been his fitness toolkit during the lockdown. Treadmill and upright bike are other pieces of equipment that he uses.

“I have fine-tuned my baking skills. Although my wife Benaisha and I aren’t vegan, the rest of the house is. So, during the lockdown, vegan baking took centrestage. Benaisha makes the best chocolate mousse cake. It’s made with dates, almond flour and coconut milk — it’s a huge hit. I find baking therapeutic. It’s a precise activity where the outcome is as perfect as the work that goes into it. If you follow the instructions, the end result is good. I love that.”

Staying at home, I’ve had the time and leisure to introspect, about things left behind and the invaluable lessons I’ve learnt. It’s been great to purge myself of the mental and physical baggage I’d been carrying.”

“Although I don’t cook very often, I think I can compete with any masterchef when it comes to making amti, a Maharashtrian dal that my family loves.
