Pamu is one of our favorite brands when it comes to true wireless stereo (TWS) earphones. We loved the previous two offerings (Pamu and the Pamu Scroll) from the company for their performance, design as well as price. Now, they have come with their latest offering – Pamu Slide, which like the previous two is being funded on Indiegogo and is already reached 7000% of its funding goal.
With the Pamu Slide, the company has opted for a more traditional design approach on the earbuds. They are similar to the Apple Airpods in appearance but thankfully come in three colours - black, white and green. The first thing that impressed us with the earbuds is their premium appearance despite the price. Second and the more important thing is that they are incredibly comfortable to wear. We used them continuously for 4 hours on a stretch once and did not feel any discomfort. Third thing that we loved about the Pamu Slide earbuds is the amazing fit – while being comfortable, they deliver a secure fit: we worked out in the gym wearing them and they did not fall out or get loose even once. The earbuds have touch controls for controlling volume, music playback control as well as activating Siri/Google Assistant and it works well. Also, they are IPX6 certified which means you don’t have to worry about water splashes or sweat while using them.
Battery life is another area where Pamu Slides shines above the competition.

The charging case also matches the premium appearance of the earbuds. While the charging case has a plastic body, it has a soft mesh finish on the top lid. The top lid slides back to reveal the storing slots for the two earphones: it’s easy to open and close with one hand. We loved that the earphone automatically fit in their respective slot thanks to the magnetic mechanism – it makes storing them easy and the user doesn’t have to worry about placing them properly for charging. The top lid also has four indicator LED lights under the mesh to show the battery capacity of the case. On the back side is the USB-C charging port along with a button. There is also a party trick on the charging case – it has a 2,000mAh battery with a built-in wireless charger at the base. You can charge your phone using the charging case of the earphones in emergency – a handy feature in our opinion. The only issue and the reason why we docked half a star is that this made the charging case bulky – it’s not easy to carry it around in pocket due to its size and weight.
For testing, we used the Pamu Slide with OnePlus 7 with music across genres, videos (both stored on device and from streaming platforms) as well as gaming. Audio quality is superb – not only do you get amazing clarity but also unbelievably loud output. Plus, there is tight bass – it’s not too deep but just the right amount which makes the headphone great for listening to music of any genre. The sound is well balanced even at the maximum volume level which is impressive. There is also a good amount of noise isolation thanks to the design and fit of the earbuds along with dual microphone noise reduction. We did not notice any sync issue with video playback and audio too – one of the common issues on TWS earphones. One of the big reasons for this performance is the use of Qualcomm’s latest QCC3020 processing chip, AptX support and the use of Bluetooth 5.0. For voice calls, you get the audio in both earbuds and the microphone works well – however, in a noisy environment, we did have to raise our voice to be heard.

Sony announced the PlayStation Classic back in September but we still have no clarity if and when it will come to India. The Classic should be on the must-buy list for anyone who loves retro consoles. Sony has kept the same design as the original PlayStation 1 including the multicolor logo. Although the size is 45% smaller than the original it comes preloaded with 20 titles and offers HDMI port for connectivity. The box includes two wired controllers with a similar design and button layout as the original controllers. It is powered by a Mediatek 8167 quad A35 processor, has 1GB RAM, PowerVR graphics and 16GB storage.

Battery life is another area where Pamu Slides shines above the competition. The earbuds delivered 9 hours of battery life on a single charge. The Qualcomm chip is also one of the reasons for the great battery life as it reduces power consumption by up to 50% over previous generation. Keep in mind that the charging case has a 2,000mAh battery and can charge your earbuds 5 times. With an average usage of around 4 hours per day, we did not feel the need to charge the case for 10 days – this is the best backup we have seen on a TWS earphone. Also, the case support fast charging – 5 minutes of charging gives you 1 hour of playback.

In our opinion, the Pamu Slide is amongst the best TWS earphones available today. Their great price is just an icing on the cake. You can order one on Indiegogo with shipping estimated in July 2019. Highly recommended.
