Nabil Gabol on whom the Dhurandhar character Jamil Jamali is based on, have said he would make Dhurandhar 3
Pakistani political figure Nabil Gabol has voiced strong frustration over the wave of criticism and mockery directed at him on social media following the release of Dhurandhar 2. He is convinced that a character in the film, Jameel Jamali, has been modeled after his real-life persona. Upset with what he views as a distorted portrayal, he has now declared plans to create his own film project to present his version of events and challenge the narrative shown in the movie directed by Aditya Dhar.

During a conversation with a digital content creator, Gabol explained why he believes the on-screen character is inspired by him. He pointed out that he was serving as a Member of the National Assembly from Lyari during the time period depicted in the storyline, making the similarities difficult to ignore. When questioned about a plot twist that reveals the character as an intelligence operative linked to India’s R&AW, Gabol dismissed the depiction as fictional exaggeration. He argued that such portrayals are used because, in his view, India is unable to confront Pakistan militarily and instead turns to cinematic storytelling to project its narrative.

He further elaborated that the film, while attempting to dramatize events, has inadvertently brought global attention to Lyari. According to him, the residents of the area are resilient and unaffected by how they are portrayed internationally. He also took issue with the casting choice of Rakesh Bedi, stating that a comic actor was selected to represent a character allegedly based on him. Although Bedi reportedly clarified that his role was not intended to depict any single individual but rather a broader representation of political figures, Gabol remained unconvinced, reiterating that he held the Lyari seat in 2007, which aligns with the film’s timeline.

Addressing the surge of online trolling, Gabol acknowledged that many users have questioned his silence. He indicated that he plans to respond firmly and directly, drawing parallels with how national institutions react to external challenges. He suggested that he would soon present a strong rebuttal, particularly to clarify misconceptions about Lyari and its people.

Taking his reaction a step further, Gabol revealed his intention to produce a film of his own. While it will not carry the Dhurandhar title, he intends to name it Lyari Ka Gabbar, positioning it as a counter-narrative to the existing storyline.

This is not the first time Gabol has criticized the franchise. When the earlier installment was released, he had already expressed dissatisfaction with how his supposed character was depicted. At the time, he even addressed suggestions about seeking an international ban on the film, stating that financial constraints made such legal action impractical. Nonetheless, he maintained that his portrayal lacked accuracy and failed to capture the assertive personality he believes defines him.
