Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof and baby make a ‘powerful statement’ at ICC Women’s World Cup, charm Indian team

The ongoing 2022 ICC Women’s World Cup is gaining all the attention. India defeated Pakistan by 107 runs in Mount Maunganui on Sunday. The victory was clearly charming, however, what unfolded later was even delightful.

Shortly after the victory, India’s players shared a picture with Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof and her infant daughter. The image soon went viral generating a flux of heartwarming reactions across the internet.
The players were also seen coddling the toddler with playful gestures. The image created a buzz among fans from both nations who were rooting for their teams in the game.


In another short video, Indian players were seen playing with Maroof’s infant daughter Fatima. The baby is seen reposing on the shoulder of the beaming mother, who is surrounded by the Indian team.
Earlier, another image of Maroof went viral after she was seen arriving for the World Cup with her baby in her arms. This image too captivated fans from both sides of the border.

Pakistan Cricket Board recently framed a policy offering 12 months paid leave and guaranteed contract extension. Maroof is the first beneficiary of the new policy.
The viral image showed Maroof with the baby in her arms along with her cricket kits and a baby cradle. The picture has been seen as a powerful symbol among netizens who were highly impressed by the Pakistani cricket star’s appearance.
The 30-year-old born in Lahore is an all-rounder known for her left-handed batting and bowling right-arm leg break. Maroof has represented Pakistan in over 200 matches.

She is the first woman to score 1,000 runs in ODIs for Pakistan. In April last year, Maroof took a momentary break to give birth to her daughter. She announced her return to cricket in December 2021.

At the ICC Women’s World Cup the Indian team beat rival Pakistan by 107 runs marking the beginning of the tournament.
