Rohan Narang said his friends almost use his house like a hotel.

Rohan Narang, CEO, Hazoorilal Legacy, says he loves playing host, and friends can relax at his house whenever they want:
A social space “My wife Priyanka and I are both sociable people. I wanted to make all my friends feel welcome in my house in Delhi. At the same time, I also wanted Priyanka and I to have enough privacy.
“We redesigned the entire first floor of the family bungalow, using her inputs and mine. We now have a large lounge area with a private terrace and bar, and a huge bedroom that can be our private space even if we have lots of guests in the lounge area. I also put in an extra storage room, which has been converted into a nursery for our infant son.”
Personal space “The house was renovated at the same time as my showroom, and both follow the same mood board. I followed the same principles for both: Soft, neutral colours that form a soft background for artefacts.

“The room is like a large lounge, warm and chic and clean. There are just a few decorative items here: A couple of paintings, including one by an unknown artist, which we saw in a small gallery and loved. It looked quaint and cost us just Rs 5,000! There is also a Sanjay Bhattacharya canvas gifted by my parents, Anjali and Ramesh. There is some pop art by my cousin Sanuj Birla [images from Game of Thrones and Manchester United drawn on real dollar bills], which add a dash of bright colour.
Rohan Narang describes himself and his wife Priyanka as sociable people. “We have a small bar, a large TV and a comfortable sofa. The lounge opens out into a secluded open area which has an outdoor bar with a terrace garden for winter afternoons or summer evenings. It is lovely to sit out here when the weather and air quality are good. We have a high fence all around, so that the space remains private.
“The bedroom also reflects the same colours, and the pride of place is a four-poster bed with animal details, reminiscent of our honeymoon in Africa. Initialled Louis Vuitton trunks gifted by a friend, and a collage of photos from the wedding complete the look. The baby’s bedroom is powder blue with a customised wall with cute animals.”
Friends welcome “This is an open house, and my friends almost use it like a hotel. They come and hang out, watch matches, unwind, and leave refreshed. We love having them over.”

What I would never have “I will not have a clock on the wall here because it’s a constant reminder of how time flies. I don’t want anyone to look at a clock and feel rushed. Once you are here, just let time be.”
In one word “If I had to describe my space in one word, I would just say ‘warmth’”.

Dream guest “The one person I would love to invite is [former Manchester United manager] Alex Ferguson. He’s my idol, and if I could entertain him here and watch a football match with him in my lounge, it would really make me happy.”

“The larger than life television screen is something I just love. We watch live games here, and they play PS4 too. We watch a lot of the earlier games on this big screen. The jerseys here (see pic below) get rotated as we try to mix up the memorabilia. Every time you come here, there’s something new to see. My favourite is the Stephen Curry jersey — the first time he became an all-star.” — Yannick Colaco, Managing Director

“I used to be the national coach of India and visited many of the countries whose flags you see up here. I feel, this gives the space a slight international feel. NBA is going global. My favourites include Mizoram and Iran. I like this area because it’s private, but you still have access to everyone – so you can quickly pop out if you hear something you like. The smaller conference room is also a great place to have a quick meeting.” — Scott Flemming, Head of Basketball Operations

“We call it the bar. It has got a very light air and we usually use this space when we need to brainstorm. It doesn’t feel as formal as a conference room. Often I just bring my laptop here when I have to discuss something with a coworker as this space is neutral. It’s the informal space in this formal setting. We also have breakfast and lunch at the bar.” — Mairu Gupta, Sr Director, Content & Media Distribution
